Today we’re going to the Mall of Asia. Nica tells me this place is massive, waaay bigger than any of the malls we’ve visited so far. I look forward to it! It’s a taxi ride away again so if it’s any more than 200m I expect it to take over an hour 😂
Once we got there, our first stop was to meet one of Nica’s friends and her family. We had food with them and their gorgeous little baby. We are Ninong and Ninang (godparents) to her and I was soo excited to get to meet her in person for the first time!
Once we went our separate ways, I had an interesting interaction with some people here. A group of American guys approached and asked me if I was a Jew. I think they were Jewish themselves (wearing kippahs) but this definitely made me giggle as it was totally unexpected and I have no idea what made them think I was! Answers on a postcard please…
Now it was time to go shopping. First, we went shoe shopping, Nica got some shoes and I got some shoes…
Next up it was time to spoil my gwapa uyab a bit. Today’s our final day together of this visit and while we hadn’t talked about it yet, it was written all over our faces most of the day 🥲. Nica really wanted a new watch, so we went and looked around before she found one she loves!
Next we stopped for a drink near some big event that was happening. Nica said some sort of product launch was going to take place. We waited for a while but got bored and never actually found out what it was! There was a familiar shop or 2 in the background though…
As we made our way towards the back of the mall, we passed through Neon Alley. It does exactly what it says on the tin…
We made our way outside towards the waterfront and the funfair. There was some rides and a wheel called the MOA-eye. Of course, we were going to have a go!
We waited in line for our ticket and then waited in line for our turn! It takes about 4 minutes or so I think to go around and you get to go around twice. It doesn’t stop, so boarding and leaving are an adventure for those of us not good on our feet 😂
Shortly after it was time to head back to our accomodation, we’d go by taxi as the easiest route.
Once we got back, we wandered around the resort we were staying in. We did find some shops we wish we’d found earlier! We also sent a gift package off to the little baby we saw earlier today, we bought her a couple of outfits and some other bits and bobs!
After we went upstairs, it was time to give Nica her watch and face the music, tomorrow I’ll be flying home and our first time together here in Philippines is coming to an end 🥲.
