Duka and Bhayay, my welcome party!

We woke up early this morning and headed straight out to the beach! I haven’t been swimming in a really long time (20+ years at least) so this was a bit of new territory for me. The water was lovely and warm, waaay warmer than I expected and it was lovely and clear. The seafloor was a bit rocky though so I had to wear my slippers into the water which was a bit of a pain as they were buoyant and kept escaping my feet!

After this, Nica and I headed back to our villa and got changed and washed up. I had a bit of a fall on the slippery floor but luckily have plenty of built-in padding! We then headed down the restaurant for our complimentary breakfast by the beach!

After this we had to go to ER in Gingoog City, about 40 mins away. Everyone is okay but 2 of the party were unwell and needed checking over. This took a bit out of our morning so we had to rush back to Duka Bay in order to checkout by noon! Thankfully due to some expert speedy driving by Nica, we made it with 20 minutes to spare and got out before we got charged for another day!

Our next destination was Bhayay Exclusive Resort. This was only about a 20 minute drive from Duka bay along the coast towards Balingoan (our next destination tomorrow!).

Once we arrived at Bhayay, it was clear why it cost what it did to rent for the night. It’s a beautiful 2 storey house situated on the hillside with a private pool, beach and garden area. We were able to take many wonderful photos!

I also got some wonderful shots of Nica, looking gwapa out on the back deck!

As the evening drew in, it was time for the party to welcome me to the Philippines.

Welcome to PH

As you can see, there was a cake! Just for me! I ate a slice and then shared with the rest. I ended up with some on my fact, apparently it’s tradition! I started a new tradition by getting Nica back after, all is fair in love and cake! 😂

Cake on my face

Here you can see our own private pool. It had colour changing bulbs in and was really nice.

At the end of the night, we went for a drive and to take some of Nica’s family home as they had work in the morning. We stopped off here and saw some big fruit!

GoodBye Fam

Tomorrow we’ll be leaving the family behind and heading up to Balingoan to get a ferry across to Camiguin Island. Join me in my next post!
