Camiguin Day 3 – Hot Springs, Mantigue Island and Ferry.

Today was our final day on Camiguin so we planned to make the most of it. First stop this morning was at the Hot Springs. After how cold the ‘Cold Springs’ were yesterday, I was expecting to be boiled like an egg here! One thing is for sure, the setting was incredible!

The waters however were far from hot. If I was asked to name this place, I’d call it more of a “Tepid springs” in truth. It sure was nice though and given that we were here so early, we had the place to ourselves.

Next on the schedules was a place called “White Island”. This is an island that’s more of a sandbar. There’s no trees, no buildings; nothing but sand. Because of this, we opted not to go, we’d likely cook in the temperatures of the day and instead headed for Mambajao to collect our laundry. I took the opportunity to get some photos in front of the I 💖 Mambajao sign!

Once everything was collected, we loaded up the car and headed towards our final stop on Camiguin: Mantigue Island. This is another island that’s a boat ride away but it has trees and shelter for us folk allergic to sunlight! The journey out on the boat was amazing, I’ve never been on a boat like this before!

The boat was also incredibly noisy once the motor got running. We timed it perfectly though and had the boat for just the 2 of us.

Once we got to the other side, it was amazing. A small, circular island with sand all the way around the outside and a small group of trees in the middle! Wow!

We hired a table and then made our way to the water. Now, in hindsight, this would have been a great moment to reapply my sunscreen; sadly, I didn’t think of this at the time! I still had a blast though!

After this, we got back on the boat and returned to Camiguin itself. The water was incredible and beautifully clear and fresh. Nica’s an incredible swimmer too, sana all!

Once back on the mainland, we showered and got back in the car as we had to rush to return the rental car. We met them at the port and then got back on the ferry towards Balingoan.

The ride back was much quicker than the ride out, thankfully this time it seems we did not have any overweight vehicles slowing us down! Swerte ta duha!

Once back in Balingoan, we headed towards the bus terminal. There’s not any photos or videos from the rest of today as carrying around all of our luggage was tiring and meant we had no free hands. At the bus station I got some funny comments from strangers who’d not seen many/any white folk before but they were all lovely.

We got a ride down in a really cramped Van to CDO and then a Taxi to our residence at The Loop. The taxi driver was around the 14th person to tell us how beautiful our children would be!! At least, that’s what Nica says, I don’t have great Bisaya yet!

I hope you can join us tomorrow for our next adventure!
