Camiguin Day 2 – Cold Springs, Beach & Falls

We started early again today with a few visits planned. We’d be travelling all the way around the island today to get where we wanted to be! We had an early morning visit from Bogbog as ever! Also an introduction to one of the local cows walking around the garden:

BogBogMorning

After we and Bogbog had our breakfast, we got in the car and made our way towards Sto Niño Cold Springs. Along the way we stopped off at the viewpoint from yesterday, this time much quieter so we took the chance to get some photos:

After this we got back in the car and headed towards Sto Niño. When Nica said it’s a cold spring, I was expecting cold like “Oops I stepped in a puddle in October” cold; What I got was “Some spilled Liquid Nitrogen on your soul and then froze it” sort of cold! Am fairly sure if humanity perfects cryogenics, this is the place people will be stored!

Frozen Scotsman

In the above video, I’m not stood still because I don’t like the water or it’s too deep, I just can’t feel anything below the waterline at this point! Nica took to it like a champ though and was swimming around like it was nothing. Sana all!

After we got dried off (Really quick in this heat) and back in the car, we made our way towards the southern end of the island. We were heading for the clam sanctuary and made our way along some incredible roads.

After about 30 mins in the car we finally arrived. I was amazed how quiet Camiguin is once we got outside of Mambajao and the port town Benoni.

What a beautiful place for us to arrive at; we had the entire place to ourselves too! Swerte jud ta duha! Our luck wasn’t all great though as the Clam Sanctuary was shut and there was no sign of anyone inside. We took the runner’s up prize though and had the beautiful beach, all to ourselves!

BeachTimelapse

As you can maybe imagine, it’s difficult to enjoy yourself here or even to relax slightly! Looking back towards the mainland, there seemed to be some heavy weather but over here on Camiguin, the weather was incredible. Nica took all of these shots, she’s a great photographer as well as model!

We got back in the car and headed north along the east coast of Camiguin. We passed some rice fields along the way, won’t see them in Blighty!

We stopped off for some lunch, we had Jollibee! Jollibee is a bit like McDonald’s/Burger King in the UK, we stopped off at the drive-thru and had some food in the car where the AC was set jusssst right. Nica tried on my glasses too, I think they suit her but they’re no good for her eyes!

Shortly after, we arrived at our next destination for today, Katibawasan Falls. This is another beautiful waterfall on the island, this one was a little bit busier so we didn’t head all the way down into the bottom. We were still fortunate enough to get some of these amazing shots.

This was another amazing waterfalls. The noise of the water hitting the bottom was so incredibly loud and the mist floating around too was nice and cooling. There’s some great shots of it behind Nica above creating a rainbow effect.

After this, we headed back to our accomodation for some dinner and to relax and cool off.

That’s it from us today, we hope you can join us tomorrow for our final day on Camiguin Island.
